Gabriel 4 yrs b'day

We went to Sharm on Monday afternoon 27th August. We stayed there for 4 days and came back to Cairo on Saturday 31st August.
Gabriel celebrated his 4 year old birthday in Sharm. His uncle Jonas came from Sweden to visit us here. It was a last minute decision.
Peter woke me up on Monday morning and told me that we should start packing as we are going to Sharm for few days. I woke the kids and we are all ready in an hour to hit the road.
Since the kids are starting schooling on Sunday 2nd September, we drove by the school to buy their school uniform.
It was a very hot summer. The weather was around 40 degree when we were in Sharm.
We stayed in the villa in Sheraton. Jonas has never been to Sharm which is why we also decided to take him there.
Kids enjoyed themselves there very much. It is just relaxing days being at the pool, swimming and full of fun and laughter. We got our breakfast and lunch buffet personally served everyday in our villa. We were also offered dinner but we decided to go out instead.

We hit the road. It took us almost 5 hrs drive.

"Uncle Jonas" sneaking peeeeee ing when we stop for petrol and a smoke. There are no way we can find nice, clean, decent toilet along the way. So I guess his way, was the best way.

Cool shot in the tunnel.

We see just desert all the way.

Trying to keep ourselves occupied throughout the trip.

Upon arriving Sharm at almost 8 in the evening, we took a nice warm shower and decided that we should go down town at NaaMa Bay for a dinner.
It was a hassle to find parking space in the town area, so we had no choice but to park our car far away and walk down. Of course with the long drive in the car and feeling tired and hungry, we never thought much to decide where to eat. TGI Friday was the easiest. When we arrived it was fully booked both indoor and outdoor sitting. The waiter promise us a table in 10 mins. So we head for the bar and ordered a glass of cold beer. Around 10 mins we got ourself a table and we enjoyed the food and felt much more relaxed.

The next day when we woke up, we had a nice breakfast and the next thing we did was to head for the pool. We spent few hrs in the nice pool and of course for the next few days when we're there, we will always be at the pool right after breakfast. It is the only thing to do during the day under the hot sun and also the best thing to do anyway.

Gabriel built up his confidence each time we been to the pool. He was very coward of water and will scream if the water gets into his eyes. Somehow this time, he was feeling much more comfortable and swimming in the deeper side of pool with his two small hand float. Before he would only play around the baby pool.

Jonas is looking for flip flop while I was looking for a plain simple sleeveless top as I only bought one top with me.

Dinner at Hard Rock Cafe

We were out looking for present for Gabriel as we decided to celebrate his birthday on Thursday. We went searching for nice toys but there are were no proper toy shop around in the tourist resort in Sharm. They had small nonsence toys which we knew he will just break it the next day. So we decided to get him a toy when we get back to Cairo. Gabriel was very nice, he never demanded toys or present that day.

We have asked for Mohamad Jaad to arrange a small birthday cake which he had ordered in the morning at Marriott Hotel. At 5.30, Abdullah came with the cake to us.

The cake arrived but there was no candles, so we have asked for some candles and Abdullah arrived with a big long candle available in the villa. So we just light them up.

After we sang him the birthday song, Gabriel proudly blew off the 4 candles.

The next day at the pool, we talked and spontanously we decided to get him swimming flippers and a googles when we were sitting at the pool. Amazingly, he gain 100% confidence and swim like a fish that day. He was so happy that he got that as a present. He wore it even at home after the swim. I am so happy to see him swimming so well. I know in a few more months if we continue bringing him for a swim often, we will be able to take away the float on his arms.

It was indeed a very cheap and simple presents for Gabriel but the amount of joy and happiness he had using them, is far more worth than giving him an expensive big toys which he will enjoy playing with them few hrs and will forget about it.

This was a snorkling googles I bought to the pool and Gabriel tried using them and learnt to put his head in the water. The snorkling googles was far too big for him so that was where we decided to get him swimming flippers.

At the beginning he felt a bit strange and difficult to swim with the flippers on but in few mins later he picked up the kicking movement perfectly.

Look how happy he is swimming. Mummy sooo proud of you.

Our holiday end on Friday at 5pm when we started to drive back home. The kids will start schooling in 2 days. Jonas is flying back to Oslo, Norway that night. He had few hrs to sleep before his flight.

Here we are stopping for a cig just before the sun goes down, we got out to stretch our legs. We arrived home at almost 10pm.

River Nile, Egypt

The Nile is the longest river in the world. The presence of the Nile River and the Nile River Valley in Ancient Egypt greatly influenced the culture of its people. The Nile was one of the most important reasons that Egyptian civilization developed where it did, and it played a key role in the foundation of Egypt’s existence.

The river is formed by three main tributaries - the White Nile, the Blue Nile and the Atbara - and flows through nine countries. The White Nile passes through Uganda, Sudan and into Egypt, while the Blue Nile starts in Ethiopia at Lake Tana. Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi have tributaries flowing into the Nile and into Lake Victoria.

In Egypt Cairo today, all fancy boat restaurant and most exclusively 5 stars hotels surrounded the River Nile.
