The Very Big Day

Finally 31st August 2003, Sunday at 20.50, little Gabriel was born in Falun Hospital, Dalarna Sweden. He was 4.7kg and 55cm long. I was 2 weeks overdue and finally the doctor agreed to start inducing. Had my first contraction at 13.40 which later after 2 hrs it became unbearable. I had a normal birth, no complication and without any help. Baby is very healthy and so is the mother.
Few hrs after the birth, I went to take a shower.Felt so fresh but obviously tired from the long long hrs of pain and pushing. Peter is so happy to hold his little son. We asked for a single room so he could sleep over but since the single room is fully booked, they clean up the labour room and put an extra bed next to me so he could sleep the night with us. Gabriel was sleeping in his small baby cot next to my bed. He cried a little at night and I woke up to breast feed him.
The nurses and the midwives in the labour ward in Falun hospital were fantastic. They were patience, kind, gentle and very supportive throughout the whole labour. I would like to thanks them for their wonderful support.
Next day we woke up and request to go back home with the baby as I dont feel like staying in the hospital and since there was no complication and the baby and mother is healthy, the doctor came to check the baby and allowed us to go home.
The midwife from Falun Hospital came to the house few times after we came home to see if the baby is fine.
