I went back to Singapore on the 20th to 28th June 06. My initial plan for this trip there was to bring my mother back home after she have been with me for 3 months in Ireland. Arriving Singapore at 9:20am and my dad, my brother, his wife and niece and nephew were there waiting at the airport. It was very warm and humid. I was so excited to be home after so many years.
My plan was to meet up with all my friends that I have not seen for all these years. Unfortunately, one week is a bit too short time for me and I was always feeling tired and jet-lag. In fact I did not go out much while I was there. I was at home almost every night.
The first few days I was in the nearby neighbourhood. We went to Northpoint and they had a new Starbucks cafe outdoor which I enjoy sitting and drinking their best coffee.
I met up with my best friend Suzanne on wednesday night just a day before I flew back home and she bought me to a new place called Bali. It was beautiful and greenery all around. I just love being there. We sat there till 11pm and then we were out till 5am to Elias park where we both were sitting at the beach pub till morning. We had so much to talk about and I only had that day with her.
I did went to Orchard road with my mother and sister in law. Everything was different and much more lively. I couldnt recognised myself being there and Plaza singapura was so different with all the outdoor cafe. It was beautiful and so much to see and so short time to see everything. I even tried to take the MRT. To my surprised the ticket changed and everything was touch screen and sensors tickets and for once in my life being once a singaporean felt that I was really like a tourist, asking people around on how to use it and how much I have to pay for the trip. Even when I took a taxi, it was a TV screen. LOOK at how much changes there is in Singapore... It caught me by surprised.
Between one of those days, I went over to Aliah house , sister to Maznah, my sister in law and she have invited me over for dinner at her place. Her daughter played piano while we were there and combined with Alia fantastic dinner such as Crabs, Prawns, cockles and Thai salad with spicy dressing, it was indeed a fantastic dinner.
Other than that I bought so many shoes for all my daughters, son, husband and myself. Everything seems to be very cheap there. Especially when you convert Euro to SGD currency.
I also managed to meet my brother newborn girl Sarah and of course his little boy, Izat. She is so tiny and fragile. Just sleep peacefully. I did managed to spent my little time with Izat too in between all my busy schedule.
Finally on Thursday morning Maznah and my parents sent me to the airport at 1:30 in the morning. I check in around 3.30am. Not only was I overweight with 16kg but I was also made a mistake about the dates of my travel. i was suppose to be flying Wednesday moring but I was at the airport on Thursday morning. Luckily I managed to get a free space available and they manage to get me on board that flight home from Singapore to Bahrain and Bahrain to London. In London I was put on a waiting list for 6pm flight. I was lucky that everything went smoothly and I did get on that flight home too where all my childrens are waiting for mummy at the airport. I have nothing for them at that moment as all my 3 luggage was delayed and will be sent home to me by courier the next following day.
My husband fall sick the 2nd day when I was in Singapore and he could hardly move and walk the first few days. He have to called for the doctor to come home to give him an injection to be able to moved again. Not only was I worried when I was in Singapore, as I am so far away and having a very sick husband who cannot walk and having all my children home, luckily everything turn out fine. I am glad to be home again and able to help out in the house again.
If ever Haslinda in Singapore ever read this, I would like to apologised for not being able to meet you when I was there. I hope to make it up someday which I am sure to be back again next year.
Blogging on beauty, food, travel, handmade outdoor furniture, family and friends I met along my journey.
